Amon Hen is a long-forgotten seat of power in Middle-earth, a hill topped by the ruined Seat of Seeing and scattered with the crumbling stone visages of fallen statues. It was there that the Fellowship of the Ring was broken, scattered by the grasping power of Saruman the White – and the machinations of the One Ring itself. Ambushed by Uruk-hai shortly after crossing the River Anduin, the Fellowship fought a frantic skirmish that ended with the death of Boromir and the capture of Merry and Pippin, while Frodo and Sam escaped to continue the journey to Mordor alone.
